I am the Mango "All Season," the ever-reliable bearer of sweetness. As my name promises, I break the strict seasonal cycle of most mangoes, offering multiple, staggered flushes of flowers and fruit throughout much of the year. My medium-sized, oval fruits have attractive golden-yellow skin and sweet, fiberless, aromatic flesh, ensuring a near-continuous harvest.
I am a specific, poly-embryonic mango (Mangifera indica) cultivar, celebrated for its ability to flower and fruit outside the traditional spring-summer window. I am prized by home gardeners and commercial growers in suitable climates for extending the mango season.
A cultivated variety, likely developed from Southeast Asian poly-embryonic stock. Popular in tropical climates like the Philippines, Thailand, and parts of South India where it is known for its extended bearing habit.
Requires regular, deep watering during flowering and fruit development for good yield and size. Tolerates some drought once established, but inconsistent watering can lead to fruit drop.
Demands full sun (at least 8+ hours of direct sunlight) for vigorous growth and to initiate reliable flowering flushes.
Thrives in consistently warm, tropical climates (25-35°C) without a distinct cold period. Its "all season" trait is best expressed in lowland tropics with minimal temperature fluctuation.
Plant in deep, well-drained soil with plenty of space for its spreading canopy. Can be maintained at a manageable size (3-4m) with pruning. Suitable for large containers in patios.
Requires regular feeding to support continuous fruiting. Apply a balanced NPK fertilizer with higher potassium after each major harvest and again at flowering. Organic compost is highly beneficial.
Botanical name: Mangifera indica 'All Season'; Similar cultivars: 'Neelam', 'Saigon', 'Carabao' (Philippine variety); Family: Anacardiaceae.
The ripe fruit flesh is safe for pets in moderation. However, the peel, leaves, and sap contain urushiol (like poison ivy) and can cause skin irritation and gastrointestinal upset if ingested. The seed is a choking hazard.
High. As a large, broad-leaved evergreen tree, it is excellent for oxygen production, carbon sequestration, and providing dense, cooling shade.
Extended harvest season providing fresh mangoes over many months; reliable and prolific bearer; excellent, sweet flavor for fresh eating; attractive ornamental tree with dense foliage.
Susceptible to anthracnose fungus, especially during rainy flowering periods. Fruit flies and mango hoppers can be pests. In non-ideal climates, it may revert to a more single-crop habit. Requires consistent pest/disease management for clean fruit.
Long-lived perennial tree. Can remain productive for 40+ years. Typically grows 4-6 meters tall in cultivation but can become larger if unpruned.
