I am the Lipstick Plant, the dazzling jewel of the indoor jungle. My glossy, trailing vines burst with unique, tube-shaped blooms that emerge from a dark maroon bud like a swipe of vivid lipstick, adding a bold pop of color and tropical flair to any bright room.
I am a stunning evergreen epiphytic vine, cherished for my distinctive, brilliantly colored flowers and attractive, cascading foliage, making me a favorite for hanging baskets indoors.
Native to the humid rainforests of Malaysia and Southeast Asia; cultivated worldwide as a popular flowering houseplant.
Water moderately, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Prefers high humidity but hates soggy roots.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Some morning sun is beneficial, but avoid harsh afternoon direct sun.
Prefers warm, stable temperatures (18-27°C); sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 13°C.
Plant in a loose, well-draining epiphytic mix (orchid bark, perlite, peat). Use a hanging basket or pot with good drainage.
Feed every 2-3 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Botanical name: Aeschynanthus radicans; Common names: Lipstick Vine, Basket Vine; Family: Gesneriaceae.
Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a pet-friendly choice.
Moderate; helps improve indoor air humidity and contributes to a healthier indoor environment.
Provides long-lasting, uniquely shaped flowers perfect for brightening indoor spaces; excellent as a trailing plant in hanging displays; relatively low maintenance for a flowering vine.
Bud drop due to low humidity, overwatering, or sudden temperature changes; susceptible to mealybugs and aphids.
Long-lived perennial houseplant; with proper care, can thrive for many years, with vines trailing 30-60 cm or longer.
