I am Terminalia, a family of tall tropical trees with lush green crowns. Some of my species heal hearts, some provide nuts, and others are sacred in Ayurveda.
I am a tropical tree genus with species valued for medicine, shade, and nuts.
Native to India and tropical Asia.
Moderately drought-tolerant; water weekly when young.
Requires full sun.
Thrives in 20–35°C.
Plant in deep, well-drained soil; spacing 6–8 meters apart.
Minimal; compost annually for young trees.
Genus: Terminalia; Family: Combretaceae.
Non-toxic; fruits edible in some species.
High; large canopy filters dust and pollutants.
Provides shade, timber, medicinal bark, edible fruits/nuts (depending on species).
Susceptible to leaf spot, caterpillars, and root rot in waterlogged soils.
Can live 50–100 years; starts fruiting in 4–5 years (fruiting species).
