All Details

I am Nilgiri, the eucalyptus tree of the hills. My tall, straight trunk and fragrant leaves yield oil that heals, timber that builds, and shade that shelters. I thrive in cool highlands, offering farmers a fast-growing crop and families a natural remedy.

I am a fast-growing evergreen tree producing aromatic leaves and timber.

Native to Australia; introduced to India in the 19th century, especially Nilgiri Hills.

Moderately drought-tolerant; water weekly when young.

Requires full sun.

Thrives in 15–30°C; tolerates cool highlands.

Plant in deep, well-drained soil; spacing 3–4 meters apart for plantations.

Minimal; compost annually for young trees.

Botanical name: Eucalyptus globulus (and related species); Family: Myrtaceae.

Leaves and oil are toxic if ingested by pets.

High; aromatic oils repel insects and purify air.

Leaves yield eucalyptus oil (used in medicine, balms, inhalants); timber used for pulp, poles, and fuelwood.

Susceptible to root rot in waterlogged soils; pests include beetles and caterpillars.

Can live 50–100 years; harvestable timber in 8–12 years.

Everyday 8:30AM to 6:30PM
