All Details

I am a fragrant and useful plant, well known for my strong lemon-like aroma that naturally repels mosquitoes. Commonly referred to as the Odomos Plant (due to my smell being similar to the Odomos repellent), I have long, narrow green leaves that release a refreshing scent when touched or crushed.

I am a natural mosquito-repellent plant, valued for my strong citrus-like scent that helps keep mosquitoes away. I am often grown in gardens, near windows, or in pots to create a protective green barrier.

I am native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Australia, and I am widely cultivated in home gardens across India for my insect-repelling properties.

I prefer moderate watering. Keep the soil evenly moist but well-drained. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade. At least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily is ideal for strong growth and scent.

I grow best in warm climates between 20°C to 35°C. I am sensitive to frost and cold temperatures below 10°C.

Plant me in well-draining soil or in pots with good drainage. Space clumps about 30–45 cm apart if planting in ground.

I respond well to light feeding with a balanced organic fertilizer once a month during the growing season.

Botanical name: Cymbopogon citratus (Lemongrass) or Pelargonium citrosum (Mosquito Plant), depending on the variety known as Odomos. Family: Poaceae or Geraniaceae.

Generally safe for pets, but ingestion in large amounts may cause mild stomach upset. It's best to keep pets from chewing the leaves.

Moderate; I help freshen the air with my natural scent and can absorb mild airborne pollutants.

I naturally repel mosquitoes, can be used in teas and cooking (if lemongrass), and add greenery to indoor or outdoor spaces.

I am susceptible to root rot if overwatered. Spider mites or leaf blight may occur in very dry or humid conditions.

I can live for several years as a perennial in warm climates. In colder regions, I may be grown as an annual or kept indoors in winter.
