I am a fast-growing, trailing ornamental plant, famous for my striking leaves marked with shades of green, silver, and rich purple. Commonly known as the Wandering Jew Plant, I am loved for my cascading growth habit and vibrant foliage. I look stunning in hanging baskets, window sills, shelves, and balcony railings, where my vines can flow freely.
I am a trailing ornamental plant with purple, silver, and green striped leaves. My cascading stems make me ideal for hanging baskets and ground cover.
Native to Mexico and Central America, I am now cultivated worldwide as a decorative plant.
I prefer moderate watering. Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings. Overwatering causes root rot.
I thrive in bright, indirect light. Outdoors, I tolerate partial sun. Too little light fades my colors.
I flourish in warm climates between 18–30°C. I am sensitive to frost but hardy in tropical zones.
Plant me in well-draining soil. I spread quickly and can be grown in pots, baskets, or garden beds.
Feed me with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.
Botanical name: Tradescantia zebrina. Family: Commelinaceae. Common names: Wandering Jew, Inch Plant, Wandering Trad.
I am mildly toxic to pets if ingested, causing stomach upset or skin irritation.
Moderate; I help trap dust and improve indoor microclimates.
I provide ornamental beauty, vibrant foliage, and easy propagation. My trailing stems are perfect for decorative displays.
I am prone to mealybugs, spider mites, and fungal rot in overly wet soil.
I can live for many years with proper care, continuously producing new trailing stems.
