All Details

I am a vibrant and fast-growing ornamental vine, admired for my lush, trailing foliage that comes in stunning shades of chartreuse green, deep purple, bronze, or variegated patterns. Commonly known as Sweet Potato Vine, I am grown mainly for my dramatic leaves rather than flowers. My spreading and cascading habit makes me perfect for hanging baskets, borders, ground cover, and container gardens, adding instant color and texture to any space.

I am a vigorous, fast-growing ornamental vine prized for my heart-shaped or lobed leaves that come in vibrant shades of green, purple, or variegated patterns, grown mainly for decorative purposes.

I am native to tropical regions of Central and South America and have been widely cultivated around the world as an ornamental foliage plant.

I prefer regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist, but I am drought-tolerant once established. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade. More sun intensifies my leaf color, but I can adapt to lower light with reduced vibrancy.

I grow best in warm climates between 18°C to 30°C. I am sensitive to frost and cold temperatures below 10°C.

Plant me in well-draining soil, in containers, hanging baskets, or garden beds with space to spread. I can also be grown as a ground cover.

I respond well to a balanced liquid fertilizer applied monthly during the growing season to support lush foliage.

Botanical name: Ipomoea batatas (ornamental cultivars). Family: Convolvulaceae. I am the decorative cousin of the edible sweet potato plant.

I am generally non-toxic to cats and dogs, making me a safe choice for pet-friendly gardens and homes.

Moderate; my dense foliage can help improve indoor air quality by absorbing pollutants and adding humidity.

I provide fast-growing, colorful ground cover or trailing decor, help prevent soil erosion, and are low-maintenance in suitable climates.

I am susceptible to aphids, whiteflies, and fungal issues in overly damp conditions. Overwatering can cause root rot.

I am grown as a perennial in frost-free climates but often treated as an annual in cooler regions, where I can last one growing season.
