I am a captivating and fast-growing flowering vine, celebrated for my stunning, large, bell-shaped blossoms that bloom in deep violet, blue, or purple hues, often with a velvety texture and a bright yellow or white throat. Known as "Blue Dawn Flower" or "Morning Glory," I unfurl my flowers in the morning and close them by afternoon, creating a daily spectacle of color. My heart-shaped leaves and vigorous climbing habit make me ideal for covering walls, trellises, and arbors with a lush, floral cascade.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, particularly Mexico and Central America, I have been widely cultivated across warm climates worldwide, including India, where I am admired for my vibrant blooms and easy-growing nature.

I prefer moderate but consistent watering. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during hot and dry periods, but avoid waterlogging. Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.

I thrive in full sun to partial shade. For the best flowering, provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. In very hot climates, I appreciate some afternoon shade to protect my blooms from intense heat.

I flourish in warm temperatures between 20°C to 35°C. I am sensitive to frost and cold, and temperatures below 10°C can damage my foliage and inhibit flowering. In cooler regions, I am often grown as an annual or seasonal climber.

Plant me in well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost. Provide strong support like a trellis, fence, or pergola for me to climb. Space plants about 1–2 meters apart to allow for vigorous spreading growth.

Feed me every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. A bloom-booster fertilizer high in phosphorus can encourage larger and more abundant flowers. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which promotes leaves over blooms.

Botanical name: Ipomoea tricolor or Ipomoea indica (commonly known as Morning Glory). Family: Convolvulaceae. In India, I am often called "Krushna Kamal" or "Blue Morning Glory," symbolizing divine beauty in some cultural contexts.

Mildly toxic if ingested. The seeds contain compounds that may cause gastrointestinal upset, vomiting, or hallucinations in pets. Keep me out of reach of curious cats and dogs.

Low. While I contribute to garden beauty and attract pollinators, I am not recognized as a significant air-purifying plant indoors or outdoors.

I provide rapid coverage and stunning color to vertical spaces, making me perfect for privacy screens and decorative garden features. I attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. I am easy to grow from seed and bloom prolifically throughout the warm season.

Susceptible to aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Overwatering can lead to root rot or fungal leaf spots. Lack of flowering often results from insufficient sunlight, too much nitrogen fertilizer, or overcrowding.

I am usually grown as an annual in temperate climates, completing my life cycle in one season. In frost-free tropical or subtropical regions, I can behave as a perennial, returning for 2–3 years with proper care.
