I am a vibrant, day-blooming flowering plant celebrated for my large, colorful, and trumpet-shaped blossoms that open with the morning sun and close by evening. Known as the "King of the Day" for my stunning daytime display, I come in brilliant shades of pink, red, orange, yellow, and white, often with striking centers. I am a popular choice for gardens, borders, and decorative pots due to my showy and cheerful appearance.

Native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, especially Mexico and Central America. I have been widely hybridized and cultivated around the world as a garden favorite and are especially loved in India, where I’m grown both outdoors and in containers.
I need moderate watering. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering during cooler months or rainy seasons to avoid root rot.
I thrive in full sun. I require at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to bloom prolifically. In low light, I may grow leggy and produce fewer flowers. I truly live up to my name by loving the daylight.
I flourish in warm temperatures between 20°C to 35°C. I am sensitive to frost and cold drafts. In regions with cold winters, I can be grown as an annual or in pots that are moved indoors during colder months.
Plant me in well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost. Space plants about 30–60 cm apart to allow for spreading. I can be grown in garden beds, hanging baskets, or containers with good drainage.
Feed me with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring to autumn). A bloom-booster fertilizer high in phosphorus will encourage more vibrant and abundant flowers.
Botanical name: Ipomoea spp. (common name: Morning Glory — though "Din Ka Raja" often refers to day-blooming varieties like Ipomoea purpurea or related species). Family: Convolvulaceae. My flowers typically last for a single day but are produced in succession over a long blooming season.
Mildly toxic if ingested. The seeds, in particular, contain compounds that can cause gastrointestinal upset in pets. It’s best to keep me out of reach of curious cats and dogs.
Low. While I contribute to outdoor aesthetics and ecosystem health, I am not known as a significant indoor air purifier. My value lies in visual appeal and pollinator support.
I add striking color and beauty to gardens and balconies. I attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. I am easy to grow, fast-growing, and perfect for covering trellises, fences, or ground spaces.
Susceptible to aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Overwatering can lead to fungal issues like powdery mildew or root rot. Lack of flowers is often due to insufficient sunlight or over-fertilization with nitrogen.
I am usually grown as an annual in colder climates, living for one growing season. In tropical or frost-free regions, I can behave as a short-lived perennial, surviving 2–3 years with proper care.
