I am a delicate, fragrant flowering plant known for my small, star-shaped, snow-white blossoms that grow in graceful clusters. I am beloved in many cultures, especially in India, where my sweet, subtle perfume and pure white flowers make me a favorite for religious ceremonies, garlands, and traditional adornment. I bloom profusely, often covering my green foliage with a blanket of white.

Native to India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, I thrive in tropical and subtropical climates. I am deeply rooted in Indian tradition and are often found in temple gardens, homes, and ceremonial spaces. I am also known as "Moonlight Jasmine" due to my pale, luminous blooms.

I prefer regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. During the growing season, water me when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in the winter. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

I thrive in bright, indirect light or partial shade. I can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but strong afternoon sunlight may scorch my delicate leaves and flowers. I do well indoors near east or north-facing windows.

I enjoy warm, humid conditions, ideally between 18°C to 30°C. I am sensitive to frost and cold drafts. In cooler climates, I can be grown in pots and moved indoors during colder months.

Plant me in rich, well-draining soil with organic matter. If planting outdoors, choose a sheltered spot with good airflow. In pots, ensure drainage holes are present. I can be grown as a shrub or trained on a small trellis.

Feed me every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Avoid heavy feeding, as too much nitrogen can promote leafy growth at the expense of blooms.

Botanical name: Jasminum multiflorum (also known as Jasminum pubescens). Family: Oleaceae. I am commonly called "Star Jasmine" or "Winter Jasmine," though I am not a true jasmine. My flowers lack the strong scent of Jasminum sambac but have a soft, pleasing fragrance.

I am considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, but ingestion of large amounts of plant material may cause mild digestive discomfort. It's always best to keep plants out of reach of curious pets.

Moderate. Like many green plants, I help filter indoor air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. My presence can also improve humidity and bring a calming, natural fragrance to your space.

I am prized for my ornamental beauty, gentle fragrance, and cultural significance. I attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. My flowers are used in garlands, religious offerings, and sometimes in perfumery and teas.

I may attract aphids, mealybugs, or spider mites, especially in dry indoor conditions. Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering or poor drainage. Lack of flowers often results from insufficient light or inadequate feeding.

With proper care, I can live for several years, often between 5–10 years as a potted plant. I am a perennial shrub that blooms seasonally, with peak flowering typically occurring from late winter to early spring.
