I am the Mango Dasheri, the legendary muse of mango lovers. My slender, golden-green fruits hold an incomparably sweet, aromatic, and fiberless pulp that melts on the tongue, carrying a heritage of centuries and the title of the "Queen of Mangoes" from North India.
I am a celebrated, ancient mango cultivar from North India, revered for its exquisite flavor, enticing fragrance, and virtually fiberless texture, often considered one of the finest dessert mangoes in the world.
Originated from a single mother tree in the Kakori village near Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, over 200 years ago.
Water deeply during flowering and fruit development. Requires less water post-harvest and in winter. Mature trees are relatively drought-tolerant.
Requires full sun for optimal growth, flowering, and to develop its signature sweetness and aroma.
Thrives in subtropical climates with a hot summer and distinct cool winter (20-35°C). Sensitive to frost during flowering.
Plant in deep, well-drained alluvial or loamy soil. Space trees 8-10 meters apart for canopy development.
Feed with balanced NPK fertilizer and ample organic manure post-harvest and before the flowering season.
Botanical name: Mangifera indica 'Dasheri'; Family: Anacardiaceae.
The ripe pulp is safe for pets in small amounts, but the skin, pit, and leaves contain urushiol and can be toxic if ingested.
High; as a large, long-lived tree, I provide significant shade, carbon sequestration, and habitat.
Produces world-renowned, premium-quality mangoes with a royal heritage; a high-value fruit for fresh consumption; the mother tree is a heritage site.
Susceptible to mango hoppers, anthracnose, and powdery mildew; fruit fly infestation; alternate bearing tendency.
Very long-lived; trees can remain productive for 50+ years. Grows 10-15 meters tall with a spreading canopy.
