Hey there, friend! I'm the Canna Red, your fiery and dramatic companion that brings passionate color and tropical grandeur to your garden. With my bold red blooms and majestic foliage, I'm here to ignite your landscape with warmth and excitement!

I'm a stunning flowering plant celebrated for my vibrant red flowers that stand out against my large, lush green or bronze leaves, creating a spectacular tropical display.
Gardeners and color enthusiasts adore me for my intense red coloration, fast growth, and ability to command attention wherever I'm planted.
I'm perfect as a focal point, in tropical themes, and for adding vertical interest — anywhere you want to make a passionate color statement!

I originally come from tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, bred specifically for my brilliant red blooms.

Water me regularly and deeply, keeping the soil consistently moist.
I'm quite thirsty, especially during hot weather and peak flowering.
I thrive with plenty of moisture and can even grow in shallow water gardens!

I love full sun for 6-8 hours daily for the most vibrant red blooms!
The more sun I get, the more intense my red flowers will be.
I can handle some light shade but will produce the best color in full sun.

I'm comfortable in warm temperatures between 18°C and 35°C.
I'm sensitive to frost and need protection from freezing temperatures.

Plant my rhizomes in spring when soil has warmed

Choose a sunny spot with rich, well-draining soil

Plant rhizomes 4-5 inches deep and 1-2 feet apart

Water thoroughly after planting

Mulch heavily to retain moisture

Provide support if needed for my tall flower spikes

In cold areas, dig up rhizomes in fall for winter storage

Feed me with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
I love phosphorus-rich formulas to enhance my red blooming.
Organic compost or well-rotted manure works wonders for me!

Scientific Name: Canna spp. (Red varieties)

Common Names: Red Canna Lily, Red Indian Shot

Plant Family: Cannaceae

Plant Type: Outdoor Flowering Plant

I'm generally considered non-toxic to pets, making me a safe choice for pet-friendly gardens!

I help improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, while my large leaves efficiently filter dust and pollutants from the air!

Striking red flowers that attract hummingbirds

Fast-growing for immediate garden impact

Tropical appearance that transforms any space

Long blooming season from summer through fall

Canna leaf rollers (remove affected leaves manually)

Rust spots (improve air circulation)

Bud drop (irregular watering)

I'm a perennial that grows from rhizomes — in suitable climates I can thrive for years, while in colder regions I can be overwintered indoors and replanted annually for continuous red brilliance in your garden!
