Hey there, friend! I'm the Date Palm, your majestic and historic companion that brings ancient elegance and sweet fruits to your landscape. With my tall, slender trunk and graceful crown of feathery fronds, I'm here to create a desert oasis that connects you to centuries of agricultural tradition!

I'm a stately palm tree famous for my sweet, nutritious dates and elegant appearance with a rugged trunk and arching, pinnate leaves that create a beautiful, dense canopy.
Gardeners and landscape designers adore me for my dramatic silhouette, drought tolerance, and the delicious fruits I produce that have been cherished since ancient times.
I'm perfect for desert landscapes, large gardens, and avenue planting — anywhere you want to make a grand, tropical statement with edible benefits!

I originally come from the Middle East and North Africa, where I've been cultivated for over 5,000 years and am often called the "tree of life" for my many uses.

Water me deeply but infrequently once established — I'm extremely drought-tolerant!
Young trees need regular watering to establish strong roots.
I prefer thorough soaking followed by periods of dryness.

I absolutely love full sun for 8+ hours daily for the best growth and fruit production!
The more sun I get, the sweeter and more abundant my dates will be.
I need plenty of space and sunlight to reach my full majestic height.

I'm comfortable in hot temperatures between 20°C and 38°C.
I'm very heat-tolerant but need protection from prolonged freezing temperatures.

Choose a massive, sunny location — I need room to grow tall!

Ensure excellent drainage; I can't tolerate waterlogged conditions

Plant me at the same level I was growing in the nursery

Water deeply after planting and regularly for the first year

Space multiple trees at least 20-25 feet apart

I'm perfect for hot, dry climates with sandy soil

Be patient — I take 4-8 years to start producing dates!

Feed me with a palm-specific fertilizer high in potassium and magnesium.
I need regular feeding 3-4 times per year for optimal growth and fruiting.
I particularly benefit from additional potassium for good fruit production.

Scientific Name: Phoenix dactylifera

Common Names: Date Palm, Date Tree, True Date Palm

Plant Family: Arecaceae

Plant Type: Outdoor Fruit Tree

While my fruits are edible, the pits can be dangerous if swallowed, and my sharp fronds can cause injury, so it's best to plant me where pets won't be underneath!

I'm excellent at improving air quality by absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, while my massive canopy helps filter dust and desert sands from the air!

Produces nutritious, sweet dates rich in fiber and nutrients

Excellent shade provider in hot climates

Extremely drought-tolerant once established

Long-lived and culturally significant

Bayoud disease (fusarium wilt)

Red palm weevil infestations

Nutrient deficiencies in poor soils

Frost damage in cold regions

I'm an incredibly long-lived palm that can produce fruit for 80-100 years, with some trees living over 150 years in ideal desert conditions, growing taller and more productive with age!

Everyday 8:30AM to 6:30PM
